The sinus cavities
are located on either side of the nose and are covered by a very thin membrane.
When this membrane becomes infected or swollen, it blocks the conduit through
which the mucus is secreted. This results in pressure that causes headaches, face
pain, and nasal congestion. Menthol
steam: In a pot with hot, steaming water put a few drops of eucalyptus oil.
Cover your head with a towel so that the steam does not escape. Put your face
close to the steam and breathe on it, being careful not to burn yourself. Radishes
cataplasm: 1 onion and 6 radishes. Mince onions and radishes until you have
a paste. Spread the paste on a gauze and appy to sinus for 30 minutes or an hour.
Temperature
contrast: Fill a bowl with hot water and another one with cold water. Put
a hand in each. Rotate your hands. Saline
solution: Mix 1/3 teaspoon of salt with a pinch of baking soda in a cup of
warm water. Fill a dropper with the solution. With your head back, cover one nostril
and put the solution in the other. Blow your nose gently and repeat the same procedure
with the other nostril. Garlic
drops: Crush a garlic clove and put it in four teaspoons of water. With a
dropper, apply 10 drops of this solution into each nostril. Use twice daily. Verbena
tortilla: Whisk an egg white until creamy. Add three small pieces of verbena
leaves to it and make it like a tortilla. Fry in oil. Place tortilla on a smooth
cloth. Fold it as a bandage and put on the forehead all night. Repeat for 4 nights
in a row. Chamomile
tea: Chamomile tea loosens the mucus. Drink several cups a day and breathe
on chamomile steam.
Apply
pressure: Put your thumbs on each side of the nose and apply pressure on the
cartilage for 30 seconds. Release and repeat. Honey
steam: Put three or four tablespoons of honey in a liter of water and boil.
Cover your head with a towel so that the steam does not escape, put face closer
to the pot and breathe on the steam, being careful not to burn yourself. |
