Natural Remedies for Colds

The common cold is an infection of the respiratory system caused by a virus. Since there are many types of viruses that cause colds, it is difficult to use vaccines to prevent them. They can not be cured either because antibiotics can only treat bacterial infections. However, there are several home remedies that can alleviate cold symptoms.

Chicken soup: For many years chicken broth has been the most popular home remedy to relieve colds. Make it a little spicy to eliminate nasal congestion as well.

Onion Syrup: 1 large onion, 2 glasses of white wine, 150 grams of thyme or eucalyptus honey. Peel the onion and chop. Put in a bowl and add the white wine. Let macerate for a day. Then strain. Warm it a bit and add the honey. Take half cup four times a day, the first one before breakfast.

Echinacea tea: A popular home remedy for relieving colds and flu.

To alleviate congestion: Blend a piece of aloe, a little black pepper, and honey. Drink every morning while the cold lasts.

Honey: To a glass of warm mineral water add honey and lemon. Dissolve well and drink three times a day.

Onion: Cut an onion into pieces and leave it on a plate on your night table all night. Replace every night.

For sore throat: Hot water and salt gargles. You may also use apple cider vinegar to gargle.

Honey and cinnamon: Mix one tablespoon of honey with cinnamon powder. Take every day while the cold lasts.

For congestion: Put pine needles and sprouts in boiling water. Pour the liquid into a bowl and put your face in the steam.
