Natural Remedies for Arthritis

The most common type of arthritis is osteoarthritis. It occurs when the cartilage that serves to cushion the impact between the joints wears down. This attrition results in pain and stiffness of the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is another type of arthritis, and it is more serious. It occurs when the immune system attacks the body instead of protecting it. In addition to joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis can cause fatigue and anemia.

Home remedies for osteoarthritis:

Ginger powder - Add boiling water to two teaspoons of ginger powder.

Hot and cold - Apply heat to the sore joint for 20 minutes with a bag of hot water. If the joints are swollen apply cold compresses. Put ice cubes in a towel in your hand and apply to inflamed area. Another option is to use frozen peas instead of ice cubes.

Fish or flax seed oils - You can get these in capsules. The omega-3 acids lessen inflammation and cartilage wear.

Bay leaves compress - Make a strong infusion using bay leaves. Apply to the sore joints with a washcloth.

Eucalyptus rub - Put a few drops of eucalyptus oil on the affected area and rub.

Blueberries and pineapple - Blueberries are an excellent source of proanthocyanidins, a powerful antioxidant. And the bromelain in pineapple can reduce inflammation. Eat the pineapple between meals without any food so that you will benefit from the bromelain full-strength.
