Natural Remedies for Allergies

Hay fever is one of the most common allergies. It affects people during the pollen season. Hay fever manifests because the immune system can not recognize harmless agents such as pollen and dust and reacts in an exaggerated manner producing antibodies. When these antibodies are stimulated by pollen, the nose begins to produce histamines, a chemical that results in itching, sneezing, burning and irritation of eyes, and nasal flow. The most common treatment for hay fever is the use of antihistamines such as loratadine and diphenhydramine hydrochloride.

Natural antihistamines:

Ginkgo biloba - This is a tree that contains a substance called ginkgolides which has an anti-allergy effect. Do not take more than 240mg a day .

Alfalfa - This plant is a good remedy for allergies. It relieves the burning of the eyes and the nasal flow.

Basil tea - Put an ounce of basil dried leaves into a quart and fill it with boiling water. Close the container tightly and let it cool. Use the solution to relieve urticaria and other rashes.

Apple cider vinegar for hay fever - Add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. Drink three times a day for four days. The allergies will disappear for the season.

Nettle - Nettle is an antihistamine that works quickly. The best way to use it is in capsules. You can take 500mg three times a day.
